Indo-German Energy Forum (IGEF) showcases PV Port & Store at the 2nd Global RE-Invest 2018

The 2nd Global RE-Invest 2018 hosted by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, showcased India’s renewable energy potential and the Government’s efforts to scale up its capacity to meet the national energy requirement in a socially, economically and ecologically sustainable manner. The Indo-German Energy Forum (IGEF) in collaboration with the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IGCC), the German Development Cooperation (GIZ India) and Fraunhofer Institute organized the German Pavilion at the Expo. The highlight of the German Pavilion was the demonstration of PV Port & Store – an affordable 2kWp plug-n-play rooftop PV system for residential, micro/off-grid applications.

The German Pavilion was inaugurated on 3 October, followed by an Indo-German Networking Lunch Reception attended by high-profile dignitaries of the Indian and German Government and representatives of leading Indian and German Companies & Associations. Mr. Wolfdieter Böhler, Head International Cooperation, German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, Dr. Georg Maue, Head of Energy Efficiency, German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and Dr. Caroline Silva Garbade, Head of Economic Affairs at German Embassy in India represented Germany and officially inaugurated the Pavilion.

 Mr. R.K. Singh, Minister of State (IC) Power and New & Renewable Energy, Government of India visited the PV Port & Store, plug-n-play rooftop PV system and briefly met the delegation from German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, BMWi. On 5 October, Dr. Martin Ney, German Ambassador to India visited the German Pavilion followed by Mr. Anand Kumar, Secretary, MNRE who interacted with the representatives of the organizations forming part of the booth. The booth was visited by nearly 10000 visitors with fruitful interactions. 

On same day, IGEF also organized the first meeting of the German Local Business Advisory Council which included discussions between representatives of the German private sector with key officials of the German ministry on their focus areas and possible challenges in the field of renewable energy. In addition to exchange of information and sharing knowledge on best practices, the objective of this closed-door meeting was to highlight the views of German companies in order to prepare an effective action plan and non-binding recommendations for the Energy Forum’s high-level steering committee.
