Current projects and activities

Core tasks for the IGEF are to support and enhance high-level policy dialogue and to advise decision makers in energy related matters. Besides that, the IGEF aims at initiating strategic projects such as demonstration projects and other forms of collaboration between the Indian and German private sector. Subgroup IV - Green Energy Grid Integration

Grid integration of RE   

  • Study tour on renewable energy grid integration and data infrastructure (Karnataka and Tamil Nadu)
  • Best Practices Study tour on pumped storage (Technical Workshop at CBIP, Tehri Hydro PSP Plant and visit to Andritz Manufacturing facility)
  • Conducting a mapping study to understand the evacuation infra facilities for installed and planned and upcoming RE in rich RE states—in coordination with CEA/PGCIL/MNRE
  • Study and analyse the functions and processes of DISCOM Network in India for the future especially in the context of regulatory changes that are being proposed and large RE penetration

Grid stabilization mechanisms 

  • Workshop to discuss the findings of the Study with recommendations for future potential of Pumped Storage
