Welcome to the Indo-German Energy Forum

The Indo-German Energy Forum (IGEF) provides a dialogue platform for high-level policy makers, financial institutions, industry and research organizations to deepen and enhance the bilateral cooperation for the energy transition in Germany and India.

Prime Minister Modi and Chancellor Merkel underlined the importance of the Indo-German Energy Forum (IGEF) during the fourth Inter-Governmental Consultations between India and Germany in Berlin, 2017.

Highlights

Since its establishment in 2006, the Indo-German Energy Forum has successfully intensified Indo-German Cooperation in the areas of energy security, energy efficiency and renewable energies, investment in energy projects as well as collaborative research and development. Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue 2019

The Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue has proven to be an ideal platform for an international public and private audience to come together to discuss viable concepts for the ongoing transformation of the energy sector – the Energiewende. In 2018, Foreign and Energy Ministers met with some 2,000 participants such as CEOs, Managing Directors, Presidents, Directors, Managers, and Heads of Department from more than 90 countries to discuss ways that national governments and energy sector stakeholders can contribute to meeting the ambitious goals of the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda.

The inspiring dialogue on the global energy transition continues with high-level participants from politics, industry, science and civil society with a special focus on: integrated energy transition geopolitics digitalisation structural change.

Call for Papers: 2nd International Conference on Large-Scale Grid Integration of Renewable Energy

The 2nd International Conference on Large-Scale Grid Integration of Renewable Energy will take place in New Delhi from 4-6 September 2019. This is the second edition of the international conference, the 1st one in September 2017 had more than 400 participants including energy experts, practitioners and academicians from 18 different countries.  60 invited national and international speakers presented papers and 120-plus organizations including private and public companies, research institutions and universities attended the three-day long International Conference.

The purpose of the 2nd International Conference on Large-Scale Grid Integration of Renewable Energy in India is to connect international and Indian experts and stakeholders to jointly discuss the latest technological, regulatory and conceptual developments in this field. Intersolar Bangalore

Intersolar India is the country’s most pioneering exhibition and conference for the solar industry celebrating its 10th anniversary. It takes place at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) on December 11-13, 2018 and the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai on April 4-5, 2019.

The event’s exhibition and conference both focus on the areas of photovoltaics, PV production technologies, solar plants, electrical energy storage, electric mobility and solar thermal technologies. With its special exhibitions ees India and Power2Drive India, the event strongly highlights electrical energy storage (ees) and electric mobility solutions. Our Mission

The Indo-German Energy Forum was established in 2006 by the Indian Prime Minister and the German Chancellor in order to enhance and deepen the strategic dialogue about the ongoing energy transition. Since then IGEF is intensifying and deepening Indo-German cooperation between government, research institutions and the private sector.

Our way of working

The high-level steering committee, also called “Forum”, provides a platform for high-level policy makers and representatives from industry, associations, financial institutions and research organizations from both countries. On a working level, thematic sub groups convene on a regular basis. A Support Office serves as liaison to the stakeholders and facilitates the dialogue on all levels.

Current projects and activities

The IGEF invites stakeholders to participate in high-level policy and expert dialogue. Strategic demonstration projects, collaborative studies and reports as well as information services are major outcomes. Subgroup I on Enhancement of Power Plants

Enhancement of conventional power plants to adapt to increasing shares of power from fluctuating renewable energy sources is one of the priority topics of Subgroup I on 'Enhancement of Power Plants'.

Subgroup II on Renewable Energies

The Subgroup II on "Renewable Energies" discusses with private sector stakeholders from India and Germany innovative business models and upcoming markets for a higher renewable energy deployment in both the countries.

Subgroup III on Energy Efficiency

The Subgroup III on 'Energy Efficiency' focuses on energy efficiency measures to achieve the energy goals of Germany and India.

Subgroup IV on Green Energy Corridors

The Subgroup IV on "Green Energy Corridors" focuses on large scale grid integration of renewable energy sources.
