NITI Aayog and GIZ India jointly organised a National Sensitization Workshop on State Energy Action Plans (EAP) on 8 November. The basic objective of the sensitization workshop was to share insights on:

• Interdependency between State EAP and national energy security/policy/plan
• Approaches and methodology to be used for developing State EAP
• Developing of State Energy Calculator and State EAP
• Next steps for designing a national EAP framework. 

In the workshop, experiences gained from developing State Energy Calculators (Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Assam) were shared by senior government officials and consultants involved in the process. GIZ presented the State Energy Action Plan for Assam and West Bengal. 

A few states expressed interest in developing State Energy Action Plans as well as city-level Energy Action Plans. Both NITI Aayog and GIZ agreed to develop a concept to build the capacity of states across India.
