Flexible Thermal Power Plants: Bridge to a decarbonized Energy System

The Indo-German Energy Forum together with EEC (Excellence Enhancement Center), Steag Energy Services,  Siemens Energy, and the vgbe organised a workshop on Flexible Thermal Power Plants: Bridge to a decarbonized Energy System on 22 and 24 November 2022 in Kolkata and Delhi respectively with more than 100 participants.

The VGBE with Steag Energy Services and Siemens Energy presented the results of the various flexibility studies that have been carried out in recent years.

Teams from the power plants Andal (operator Damodar Valley Corporation) and Maithon (operator Tata Power) presented their experiences in flexible power plant operation. Both workshops were inaugurated by the Chairman of the Central Electricity Authority. In his welcome speech, he pointed out that operations with a load of up to 55% should become obligatory in the near future – in a few years even 40% is the envisaged target for the technical minimum load.
