The Indo-German Energy Forum (IGEF) provides a dialogue platform for high-level policy makers, financial institutions, industry and research organizations to deepen and enhance the bilateral cooperation for the energy transition in Germany and India.

Prime Minister Modi and Chancellor Merkel underlined the importance of the Indo-German Energy Forum (IGEF) during the fourth Inter-Governmental Consultations between India and Germany in Berlin, 2017.

Highlights

Since its establishment in 2006, the Indo-German Energy Forum has successfully intensified Indo-German Cooperation in the areas of energy security, energy efficiency and renewable energies, investment in energy projects as well as collaborative research and development. Exhibition on German Energiewende in Mumbai

The travelling exhibition “The German Energiewende” is back in India from October 2019 to December 2020! Commissioned by the German Federal Foreign Office, it has been shown in more than 30 countries worldwide so far. The Indo-German Energy Forum Support Office (IGEF-SO) is showing the exhibition at several academic institutions in South India.

Seize the opportunity to visit it at the Department of Energy Science and Engineering, IIT University Mumbai, from 13 to 18 January 2020 (10am to 6pm)! From 20 to 25 January, it will be shown at Somaiya College.

The 14th edition of ELECRAMA will take place at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida from 18 to 22 January 2020. The trade fair is organised by the Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers' Association (IEEMA) and covers the entire electricity ecosystem with more than 1250 exhibitors.

This summit would bring in thought leaders across the globe to deliberate the preparedness of utilities to deal with the transformational changes. German - Indian Innovation & Technology Transfer Platform

Steinbeis India is organising the German - Indian Innovation & Technology Transfer Platform at CSIR HRD Centre, New Delhi from 27 to 28 February 2020 in association with the Council for Scientific & Industrial Research. There will be workshops on Innovation Management, Technology Transfer and Dual Technical Vocational Education & Training in R&D as well as a presentation of the Steinbeis-CSIR Model of Technology Transfer and a session on Future Technologies with regards to the Energy Transition.

This international conference and exhibition on smart utilities for smart cities will be held at The Lalit Hotel, New Delhi from 3 to 7 March 2020. India Smart Utility Week (ISUW) will bring together India’s leading electricity, gas and water utilities, policy makers, regulators, investors and the world’s top-notch smart energy experts and researchers to discuss trends, share best practices and showcase next generation technologies and products in smart energy and smart cities domains. ISUW 2020 will include plenaries, keynotes, interactive workshops, high level roundtables and technical sessions on variety of topics. Intersolar Europe

From 17 to 19 June 2020, the world’s leading exhibition for the solar industry and its partners will take place at Messe München exhibition center in Munich, Germany. Intersolar Europe’s exhi­bition and conference focus on the areas of photovoltaics, solar thermal technologies, solar plants, as well as grid infrastructure and solutions for the integration of renewable energy. Since being founded more than 28 years ago, Intersolar has become the most important industry platform for manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, service providers and partners of the solar industry. Before the exhibition, the Intersolar conference will take place from 16 to 17 June 2020.

WindEnergy Hamburg

The trade fair for the wind energy industry takes place in Hamburg from 22 to 25 September 2020. WindEnergy Hamburg presents an open conference concept for all visitors unter the theme #climatefirst: There will be three stages set-up for keynotes and panel discussions featuring international experts in the middle of the exhibition halls at Messe Hamburg. The fair will feature planners, manufacturers, suppliers and financiers as well as operators and service providers – onshore and offshore.

Renewable Energy India Expo

The 14th edition of REI Expo will take place at India Expo Center in Greater Noida from 23 to 25 September 2020. Both the exhibition and the conference provide an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and technologies, gain insights into current global trends and get connected at networking events. Last year's event attracted more than 35,000 visitors, 700 exhibitors and almost 250 conference speakers.

RE-Invest

The 3rd Global RE-INVEST Renewable Energy Investors Meet & Expo, organised by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), will be held from 14 to 17 October 2020 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi coinciding with the Third Assembly of the International  Solar Alliance (ISA). Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi is expected to grace the Inaugural Ceremony.

RE-INVEST 2020 aims to accelerate the worldwide effort to scale up development and deployment of renewable energy and connect the global investment community with Indian energy stakeholders. It will feature a 3-day conference on renewables and future energy choices, and an exhibition of manufacturers, developers, investors and innovators. RE-INVEST 2020 is expected to be attended by over 75 international Ministerial delegations, over 1,000 global industry leaders, and 50,000 delegates.

Our Mission

The Indo-German Energy Forum was established in 2006 by the Indian Prime Minister and the German Chancellor in order to enhance and deepen the strategic dialogue about the ongoing energy transition. Since then IGEF is intensifying and deepening Indo-German cooperation between government, research institutions and the private sector.

Our way of working

The high-level steering committee, also called “Forum”, provides a platform for high-level policy makers and representatives from industry, associations, financial institutions and research organizations from both countries. On a working level, thematic sub groups convene on a regular basis. A Support Office serves as liaison to the stakeholders and facilitates the dialogue on all levels.

Current projects and activities

The IGEF invites stakeholders to participate in high-level policy and expert dialogue. Strategic demonstration projects, collaborative studies and reports as well as information services are major outcomes. Business roundtables, high-level delegations visits to India and Germany and participation at international trade fairs and conferences serve as input activities to the high-level dialogue.

Subgroup I on Enhancement of Power Plants

Enhancement of conventional power plants to adapt to increasing shares of power from fluctuating renewable energy sources is one of the priority topics of Subgroup I on 'Enhancement of Power Plants'.

Subgroup II on Renewable Energies

The Subgroup II on "Renewable Energies" discusses with private sector stakeholders from India and Germany innovative business models and upcoming markets for a higher renewable energy deployment in both the countries.

Subgroup III on Energy Efficiency

The Subgroup III on 'Energy Efficiency' focuses on energy efficiency measures to achieve the energy goals of Germany and India.

Subgroup IV on Green Energy Corridors

The Subgroup IV on "Green Energy Corridors" focuses on large scale grid integration of renewable energy sources.
