Green Hydrogen & PtX Production Training- For Project Developers & Technical Project Managers

The International Hydrogen Ramp-up Programme (H2Uppp) and Indo-German Energy Forum (IGEF-SO) jointly organised two on-site capacity building Green Hydrogen and Power-to-X (PtX) Production Trainings. These sessions, specifically tailored for Project Developers and Technical Project Managers, took place in New Delhi from 18 to 20 March and 21 to 23 March, respectively.

Around 50 participants from the private, government and research organisations participated in the trainings, with Ms. Swarnim Srivastava, Manager and Mr. Sidharth Jain. Founder & CEO from MEC Intelligence (MEC+) as trainers. MEC+ is known for delivering top-tier advisory services to clients in the Energy & Clean-Tech sectors.

The Green Hydrogen and Power-to-X Production training focused on the techno-economic aspects of producing green hydrogen and Power-to-X (PtX). The training covered various aspects along the value chain, e.g. potentials of renewable energies and hydrogen production, technology for hydrogen and PtX, economic efficiency, plant design and regulation. Additionally, the training delved into the complexities of offtake possibilities and structures, current regulations and standards, chemistry behind green hydrogen and technology evolution, advanced stages of planning for setting up a project, supply chain maturity as it stands today and key uncertainties faced by developers, and value engineering principles for improving project economics.

During the training, participants also explored the technical and economic calculation / planning tool (excel) for a basic green hydrogen production plant and modelling tool for production cost for Green Ammonia. The training was very interactive with participants engaging in various group activities where they used the tools to calculate their own project cases.

The discussions from the training aimed to unpack the potential for green hydrogen in the Indian market, shedding light on both the challenges and opportunities ahead.

The Green Hydrogen & PtX Production Training- For Project Developers & Technical Project Managers is developed under the International Hydrogen Ramp-up Programme (H2Uppp) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) that promotes projects and market development for green hydrogen in selected developing and emerging countries as part of the National Hydrogen Strategy (H2Uppp). The programme is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The training concept and training materials have been developed by Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Economics and Energy System Technology Fraunhofer (Fraunhofer IEE).
