Business Roundtable Meet on "Green Hydrogen" at Intersolar India

The twelfth business roundtable on the topic of green hydrogen was organised by the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) in collaboration with the Indo-German Energy Forum (IGEF-SO) on 20 February 2024 during Intersolar India exhibition and conference in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Ms. Shivani Chaturvedi, Regional Director, IGCC welcomed the participants and said that the German industry anticipates continued demand for energy imports, including green hydrogen or green ammonia from foreign sources in the future. This presents an ideal opportunity to evaluate the potential benefits offered by this sector.

Mr. Tobias Winter, Director, IGEF, encouraged an open conversation on this important topic and moderated the discussion. He briefed the audience about the German funding schemes for green hydrogen projects. He laid out the objectives of Germany’s "National Hydrogen Strategy" and the grant funding such as the International Hydrogen Ramp-Up Program (H2Uppp) for Indo-German Green Hydrogen Projects. The meeting witnessed participants from the solar industry who were keen to learn about the green hydrogen market and the available funding instruments.

H2Uppp is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) to promote projects and market development for green hydrogen in selected countries, as part of their National Hydrogen Strategy. Establishing a public-private partnership model, the program offers a public contribution of up 2 million EUR grant for Indo-German green hydrogen projects. Similarly, the PtX Development Fund offers up to 30 million EUR grant per project and is designed to support industrial projects for production, transport, storage, and further processing of green hydrogen.
